  • Daniel Dillard

Daniel Dillard is a lifelong musician with over twenty years of teaching experience.  He earned both a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and a Master’s in Education from the University of Denver.  He has worked with singers of all ages and abilities in Denver, Los Angeles, New York City, and Omaha, always aiming to champion the growth and vocal health of his students while helping them achieve their unique goals.  Many of the singers he has worked with have gone on to book Broadway, Regional Theatre, National Tours, and Cruise Ship contracts.

Daniel views his teaching as a partnership, always aware that student feedback and understanding are paramount to learning and developing healthy vocal habits, which can translate to a living room performance or one on a larger stage.  He believes healthy singing is largely a mental exercise, asking students to utilize imagery and color in order to produce the desired sound.  Students are encouraged to record their lessons, so they can be reminded of and replicate this sound and accompanying sensations as they practice on their own.  His work emphasizes excellent posture from head to toe, an increase in breathing awareness, recreating resonance on every vowel in every register, and consistent stretching and relaxation practices, allowing for vocal freedom and control.

Daniel’s performance experience is varied, both as a solo artist and a collaborator.  He has released three solo records, worked as a musical director, and lended his songwriting and keyboard skills to countless projects.  He has worked as a Principal Musician for Norwegian Cruise Lines, having performed for thousands of guests on their way to and from the Caribbean, including Cuba.  He is currently writing an original musical.
