Gill Nielson Mandolin
Gil has been playing accoustic/folk music for over forty years. He started with flat picking and finger style guitar and eventually adopted the mandolin as his first love. He is currently playing with the Red Rock Rangers a local bluegrass and “ole timey music” band which was reformed form the late, great “Fiddlin’ Foresters”. The Fiddlin’ Foresters were the official string band of the US Forest Service and Smokey Bear.
You are invited to explore the history of “ole timey music” and Bluegrass Americana style through a course of basic music theory. You will learn how to master mandolin technique as it applies to chord building, song structure and pickin’ and grinnin’ some of the greatest American classic tunes.
